SeaGaia – Ocean Dome (or if you’d like, Japan’s Indoor Man-Made Beach)

Ocean Dome
Indoor Water Park: Ocean Dome Have fun at the Ocean Dome, which is one of the largest indoor water parks in the world. It’s located in Miyazaki, Kyushu Island.

Above all else, the size is impressive. In fact, Ocean Dome is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest indoor water park, measuring 300 meters in length, 100 meters in width. And the temperature is 30 degrees Celsius year-round.

When you walk in, you are greeted by a beach of pure white sand and a paradise of eternal Summer.

You can watch the surfers on the artificial waves of The Great Bank or try body-boarding yourself.

There are quite a few differences between the Ocean Dome and the ocean, among them the heated indoor pool, the kids’ pool, the floating pool, and the three fast and thrilling water slides. Everyone feels like a child when playing in the water.

Within the dome, there are shops where you can rent the latest in swimsuit fashions or whet your appetite with drinks, fast food, light snacks, or full-scale restaurants that serve up the best in local Miyazaki cuisine.

Why not forget your schedules, your time tables, and your worries and just spend a day playing in the water.

The Ocean Dome Club Alliance Hotels, a group of Miyazaki City hotels, cooperates to provide quality accommodation for Ocean Dome guests.

  • THE JAPANESE DID IT AGEAN!!!!! MY HEROES !!!!!!

  • Wonderfull! Very very nice.

  • I must say I’m pretty offended by what I’ve seen said here… especially when what’s being said has nothing to do with the article~.
I just saw this Ocean Dome on “Ripley’s Believe It or Not” and it looked really really cool. I would love to go there and see it. As for what people have been saying…. I just don’t really understand what the point of commenting is if you’re just gonna say “that’s a f**king stupid idea” or w/e. It’s not about ruining the real beach… the area around the Ocean Dome doesn’t have the most healthy water to swim in…(that’s what they said on Ripley’s anyway) so they do have more reason to build something like this. Also the waves are a perfect condition situation so many pro surfers go there to surf, which I think would be awesome to see! :)

  • People!!! I can’t believe what I’ve read on this…
first of all whether you like the placement of the Ocean Dome- you have to respect what it took to create and maintain it. I hope to be there someday and experience it.

Seems to be a lot of anger here… for comments regarding such a fun place.

  • I personally have been to this dome and it is not a waste of resources, land, or time. These responses are so ignorant and show a lot about some of you people. Being an american who has lived in Japan for some time, I have seen first hand that the Japanese people as a whole are far more technologically advanced than us. We would have never thought of this, let alone designed and implemented it. All of the haters are just jealous because either A: You live near a beach but its filthy, cold, and morose, or B: You dont live near a beach and you think it would be coolest thing since sliced bread, hence the jealousy. I mean whats really going on?!?

  • for everybody who thinks the ocean dome is a waste of time, you’re all idiots. they built it because, FYI THEY HAVE TSUNAMIS. and you can’t go swimmming during a tsunami.

  • Nice idea… unique indoor pool!

  • When the earth’s environment is totally destoyed (no clean air or water; extreme temperatures), maybe these indoor parks will be the only place we can entertain ourselves. that would be extremely creepy and sad.
